Our farm was purchased by Herbert Warner in 1938. In 1939 apple trees were planted, and plans to change the farm to an orchard were underway. Herbert left the Cleveland area and moved his wife, Catherine, and daughter, Georgia, to Hiram. In 1945 Georgia married the boy next door, Kress Monroe. After the Monroe family sold their dairy, Kress began working with his father-in-law, Herb, bringing along his family’s maple syrup operation Kress and Georgia had three children, the youngest being Roger, who is now the third generation operating the orchard. Roger and wife, Sue, have enjoyed raising their three children, Nathan, Angela and Allison on the farm. As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, we also are celebrating Nathan coming back to work with the family on the farm, making us a four generation farm, which is truly a blessing. Our orchard has approximately 25 varieties of apples, six varieties of peaches, also pears strawberries and a variety of fall crops. We still produce maple syrup every spring. So if you see steam rising from the sugarhouse in February or March, please stop in. Our Apple Harvest Festivals are held the last Saturday of September and the first Saturday of October every year. Come and join us for a day of family fun! The quality of our produce has always been very important to our family. We hope you enjoy your visit to our farm, Monroe's Orchard & Farm Market, LLC. God Bless You, Roger and Sue Monroe |
